An informational meeting for the proposed ESD is scheduled for June 27 at the Cowboy Church of Brenham from 6:30-8:30. This meeting will be about what an ESD is, how its funded, and how this will benefit the Fire Departments which ultimately benefit the community. The Volunteer Fire Departments in this county have gone far to long being under funded and are at a breaking point. These two Fire Department are trying to find every way to get funding and falling well short of what is needed to sustain the level of protection our community deserves. The rising costs of equipment and lack of adequate funding through the years has left the departments with outdated and expired equipment. This keeps the departments from providing the service the community expects and deserves. An ESD will provide a consistent funding mechanism these departments so desperately need to replace vital equipment. Another concern is the lack of people willing to volunteer for a job that could injure or kill you. An ESD allows these departments to plan and set funding aside for the day when duty crew personnel will be needed to cover the staffing shortages during daytime, when alot of fire department members are unavailable because they are working and cannot leave work. Please come out and listen to the presentation, ask questions, and support our Fire Departments. Remember these volunteers are willing to risk their lives for yours!
