Hurricane Bery hit Washington County with wind and rain, causing flooding in the normal low areas and knocking down trees all over. Meyersville FD was ready to respond, several chiefs from county fire departments including Brenham FD met on Sunday 7/7/2024 at The EOC to plan a coordinated response for this significant weather event. The plan included outside available resources (unkown), staffing levels, apparatus, and response models. Meyersville FD had staffing available at the station starting Sunday night through Monday evening. The department had several saw teams deployed throughout the district clearing tree’s from the roads once the worst of the storm had passed. Meyersville FD checked every road in the district and cleared the roads that were blocked by tree’s or debris, allowing emergency crews, power company, and citizens to travel through the district. These volunteers once again answered the call and did an awesome job. Thank you Meyersville FD members and your families.
