First Member Spotlight is on Alan Pittman
Name: Alan Pittman

Q: When did you join the fire service/MVFD?
A: 1991
Q: Why do you want to be a firefighter?
A: “I felt like I could help my neighbors during their time of need.”
Q: What do you do outside the department? Job/Hobbies
Former teacher, 37 years in transportation with Blue Bell
Hobbies: Farm work, 55 years
Q: What is your best memory/experience in the fire service?
A: “Receiving a call that we were being awarded a FEMA grant that was requested for a new Engine. This was my first attempt to write a federal grant that we definitely had a need for.”
Q: What piece of advice do you have for someone who wants to join the fire service?
A: You must have a desire to commit time to this cause and your family must be behind your service due to the time required.
Q: What are two accomplishments that you are proud of?
A: Receiving the FEMA grant for an engine and being elected the first administrator for the Washington County First Responders.
